For Greyton MTB Juniors to review
This page is waiting for Greyton MTB Juniors to check it. It is published now so that they can see how it fits with the rest of the site. Until they have approved the text, it may change. Questions for them:
- Is this description of the programme correct? What would you like to change?
- Are the ride days still right, and about how many children ride now?
- When is the next Canola Roller?
- Should readers reach you through the moderators, or would you like a public contact listed?
Greyton MTB Juniors is a youth programme linked to the Greyton Mountain Bike Club, and has been running for about ten years [MS]. It takes about 75 boys and girls on weekly rides on the trails around Greyton [MS]. Girls ride on Tuesdays, and boys on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. Each ride lasts about 90 minutes and ends with juice and a sandwich, before the bikes are washed and packed away [MS]. Every child wears a helmet on every ride, and each has been given a cycling top, paid for by donations from other cyclists [MS].
Most of the programme’s money comes from its yearly Canola Roller event [MS].
Needs
- Helmets, so that each child can have their own [MS]
- Enough bikes for all the children to ride at the same time [MS]
- Money for repairs, since most of the bikes are old and often fixed [MS]
- Adult riders to join the Tuesday or Thursday rides, including visitors [MS]
Offers
- Weekly rides, skills training, and mentorship for young people [MS]
- A cycling top for each child [MS]
