Some pages cover two or more people who acted together, where the records say too little to support a page for each. Every page in the section is listed below. Who has a page here
- The valley’s Khoekhoe and San figures are given the same attention as its missionaries and settlers.
- A page is only for someone who has passed on. A page about a person who died in living memory is published only after the moderators agree and the family has had the chance to respond.
- Living researchers whose work helps this wiki are recognised on Research Contributors.
How these pages are written
- Every fact carries a tag that shows where it comes from, and each page lists its sources.
- Where sources disagree on a date or an event, the page gives each account and says which source gives which.
- Much of what is known about these people comes from one side, often a missionary’s own diary or the mission’s records. The pages say so where it matters.
- The pages describe what people did and said. They do not guess at a person’s thoughts or feelings beyond what the sources record.
