Facts on this page are followed by a tag that shows where they come from.
- [IC] Independently Corroborated. Confirmed by an official record, such as a government notice or a court or council record, or by at least two sources that do not depend on each other.
- [MS] Mission-Sourced. Comes from the organisation’s own website or statements, from the statements of a group it works with, or from the Forum’s own records. It has not been checked against sources that do not depend on them.
- [TBV] To Be Verified. Seems likely, but nobody has confirmed it from a reliable source yet.

What it does
A water board supplies water in bulk to municipalities and other users in its area [TBV]. The Department of Water and Sanitation describes the Overberg Water Board as the sole source of bulk potable water for Caledon, Protem, and Klipdale [IC].
How its work reaches the valley
- Releases from the dam. Some of the water the Department of Water and Sanitation releases down the Riviersonderend is for the Board to take [IC]. In the 2018 drought, releases to irrigators were limited to 60% of their allocation [IC].
- The valley. The sources found so far do not say where the Board takes its water from the river.
Where it touches this site
