For the people who ran the Ward 2 Forum to review

This page is waiting for members of the earlier Ward 2 Forum to check it and add to it. Until they have, it may change. Questions for them:

  1. Who founded the Forum, how was it set up, and who served on it?
  2. What did it work on besides Farm 39, and what did it find about the municipality’s finances?
  3. Why did it stop, and when?
  4. Are its records kept anywhere, and may the Forum link to them?
  5. Would any of its members like to be named here?

The Ward 2 Forum was a community forum for Ward 2 of Theewaterskloof Municipality, which ran from about 2016 to 2019 [MS]. It published the website ward2forum.org, now available only through the Internet Archive [IC]. Between March and May 2017 it published Farm 39 Transformation: The Lost 18 Years, a series on the stalled transfer of Farm 39 under TRANCRAA [IC]. The series argued that “the requirements of the community, and not those of TWKM, should be paramount” [MS], and that the Transformasie Komitee had properly represented the community [MS]. The Forum also kept a page of legal reference documents on the transfer, including the Komitee’s constitution and the 2008 settlement made an order of the High Court [IC]. The present Ward 2 Development Forum relies on that archive for its own pages on Farm 39 [MS].

The Forum is no longer active [MS]. Who led it, what else it worked on, and why it stopped are not yet recorded on this site.
