For the Genadendal Transformasie Komitee to review
This page is waiting for the Genadendal Transformasie Komitee to check it. It is published now so that they can see how it fits with the rest of the site. Until they have approved the text, it may change. Questions for them:
- Is this description of Farm 39 correct? What would you like to change?
- The page says the process involves the proposed transfer of about 4,800 hectares to a Communal Property Association. Is that how the Komitee would describe it?
- Is the Komitee content with how this site uses the name Farm 39?
Farm 39 is the name used in law for the land on which Genadendal, Bereaville, Voorstekraal, and Boschmanskloof stand [MS]. Madiba Park also stands on this land [MS]. Farm 39 is not a separate village. Residents seldom use the name, and it appears mainly in legislation and in the work of the Transformasie Komitee [MS].
Why the name matters
Farm 39 is part of a process under the Transformation of Certain Rural Areas Act of 1998, known as TRANCRAA [MS]. The process involves the proposed transfer of about 4,800 hectares to a Communal Property Association, and it has not been completed [MS]. The Transformasie Komitee is the community’s mandated body for these matters [MS].
The status of the land also affects services. The municipality does not provide basic services in Madiba Park [MS].
How this site uses the name
- Entries are listed under the settlement where they take place. Farm 39 is never used as a location.
- Entries about the land itself (its ownership, tenure, use, water rights, zoning, or services that depend on its status) carry the TRANCRAA theme and are reviewed by the Transformasie Komitee before they are published.
- This site describes the Komitee’s positions only as its own materials state them.
